2025 Exec Team

Co-Chair
Mya Wotton (She/They)
Mya Wotton is a Grade 12 student at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary with a passion for everything sustainability. Her interest in sustainability began when she noticed the significant amount of waste produced in Vancouver, which sparked a desire to understand and address the issue. After serving as a YHD for the Vancouver School Board Sustainability Connection for two years, and a Logistics Coordinator for one year, she is excited to be a Co-Chair with Jenna. During her fourth and final year with VSBSC, Mya is excited to advocate for sustainability while planning engaging yet fun events. In addition to sustainability, Mya advocates for causes such as human rights, mental health, and women’s rights. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her friends, running for fun, or relaxing in her favourite nap spots with her dog. Mya is thrilled to collaborate with the amazing VSBSC team this year!

Co-Chair
Jenna Dong (She/Her)
Jenna Dong is a Grade 12 student at Gladstone Secondary. She has been involved as a YHD for three years, one of the Public Outreach Coordinators last year, and is thrilled to be back as co-chair! Creating meaningful impacts and inspiring others is of huge importance to Jenna, alongside taking action towards issues surrounding mental health, homelessness, gender equality, sustainability, and more. Aside from the VSBSC, she’s a passionate leader running Student Council, Good Guys and Climate Action Club at school. When Jenna’s not busy running around, you can find her dancing away in the studio, spending time outdoors, or baking newly found recipes. Jenna is excited to work with an amazing executive team this year, in hopes of connecting youth passionate about environmentalism at VSBSC initiatives this year.

Vice- Chair
Kayla Chen
Kayla Chen is a Grade 12 student at Prince of Wales Mini. Driven by her interests in environmentalism since she was little, Kayla educates herself and others on sustainability through past VSBSC conferences, a sustainable small business project at VSBSC’s Cultivate 2023 and as a Public Outreach Coordinator last year. Kayla is a dedicated volunteer who is actively involved in various non-profit organizations in her community. Her involvement with the VSBSC is her first experience with a sustainability-focused organization. In her free time, Kayla enjoys sleeping with her dog, practicing the Guzheng, listening to music, and connecting with friends. Kayla is thrilled to be the Vice-Chair of the VSBSC this year and is eager to work with students across Vancouver to advocate for environmentalism and make meaningful change.

Logistics Coordinator
Alyson Lee (She/Her)
Alyson Lee is a Grade 11 student in Churchill IB. She has had a passion for climate action ever since she was little— way back in grade 3, she was promoting Earth Rangers to her class! When Alyson was in grade 6, she attended the school strike for climate inspired by Greta Thunberg, which inspired her to become more actively involved in environmental and other science initiatives at her school and beyond— like volunteering at UBC Geering Up camps. She has attended the yearly VSBSC conferences since grade 8, and for her this is a full circle moment to be on the Logistics team organizing the conference instead! When she isn’t buried in homework or her latest read, Alyson plays volleyball, the piano and Brawl Stars. She is super excited to be working with the VSBSC team and foresees this year to be filled with lasting change and lots of fun!

Workshop Coordinator
Natalie Ng (She/Her)
Natalie Ng is a Grade 12 student at Point Grey Secondary. After upcycling used Starbucks coffee for her Cultivate 2024 venture, she is overjoyed to be back as Workshops Coordinator! An environmentalist at heart, Natalie became increasingly enamoured of wildlife by trekking British Columbia's inspiriting terrains each Saturday accompanied by her mother. Flora and fauna sustain us. As such, Natalie enjoys restoring what we can of Mother Nature.
Enlivened by activism, she directs REDI Club, Douglas Park's Community Youth Council, occasional TEDx events, and partakes in youth-based mentorship such as SFU Camps. Nothing cracks her up more than Kindergarteners! When she isn't competing in tap competitions, Natalie crochets the cutest amigurumis and trips into Wikipedia rabbitholes (when she should be studying). Natalie can't wait to engage youth districtwide and unveil our progress at VSBSC's 2025 conference!

Workshop Coordinator
Sean Ly (He/Him)
Sean Ly is a grade 12 student at David Thompson. He is thrilled to be a Workshop Coordinator for the VSBSC this year. His interest in building a more sustainable community arose from his love of the outdoors. He has always been amazed by the landscapes and ecosystems around him. However, after the recent effects of climate change and pollution, Sean wants to do what he can to help preserve the liveliness of our planet.
Apart from the VSBSC, Sean enjoys working with organizations such as GoodGuysBC, Here4Peers, Royal Canadian Army Cadets, and the City of Vancouver's BSCP. He is also proud to be the president of a community service club at his local neighbourhood house. In his free time, Sean can be found at the gym, running at the park, or hiking. He can't wait to see what the VSBSC can do this year!

Public Outreach Coordinator
Julia Chuk (She/Her)
Julia Chuk, a Grade 11 student at Eric Hamber Secondary, is stepping into her role as Outreach Coordinator for VSBSC with enthusiasm. She has learned a lot about how to be environmentally conscious as a former YHD, and wants to share her practices with others.
Her passion for environmental sustainability is matched by her fascination with neuroscience and nuclear technology, fields she believes hold promise to tackle global issues. Julia’s interests extend to her role as an editor for BioYouth, a student-led bioscience newsletter, and her performances with the Vancouver Youth Choir. Additionally, she volunteers as an ambassador for UBC's Geering Up program, where she inspires younger students to explore STEM fields. Julia finds joy in experimenting in the kitchen, kicking off each morning with a homemade matcha latte and testing new dinner recipes for her family. To stay active, she has recently taken up tennis, which she finds to be the perfect way to relax and recharge. She is excited to connect with YHDS and bring her vibrant energy to the VSBSC team this year!

Public Outreach Coordinator
Shannon Le (She/Her)
Shannon Le is a Grade 12 student at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary. She was a YHD in the previous year, and she is excited to be back as one of the Public Outreach Coordinator for the VSBSC this year. Her passion for environmental sustainability was sparked from a young age through her love for nature and the outdoors.
Asides from working with the VSBSC, Shannon stays involved in her community by mentoring youth in both sports and academics. Shannon has a strong interest in studying business and social impact, where she hopes to explore how business practices can be made more sustainable and socially responsible. In her downtime, Shannon loves exploring new cafes, hiking Vancouver’s beautiful trails, and discovering new music. Shannon can’t wait to spend another year with the VSBSC team!

Graphics and Publicity Coordinator
Ingrid Kuo (She/Her)
Ingrid Kuo is a Grade 10 student at Lord Byng Secondary. She is delighted to be one of the Graphics and Publicity Coordinators for VSBSC this year. Her passion for sustainability ignited through her deep connection with animals and the realization that protecting wildlife goes hand in hand with preserving natural habitats and ecosystems. This understanding led her to recognize how essential sustainable practices are.
Beyond VSBSC, Ingrid is active in several recognized non-profit organizations, including the Project Hastings Youth Foundation and Helping Hearts Youth Foundation. She is also the proud founder and co-president of her animal shelter foundation, where her love for animals drives her advocacy for wildlife preservation and sustainable environments. When she is not playing piano, flute, or violin, you can find Ingrid with her soccer team or spending time at the beach with friends. She is excited to collaborate with the rest of the VSBSC executive team to make a meaningful impact in her community.
